Be you, but the version of you that connects with your audience. – Tip #9

We all tend to slightly adjust our personality based on who we are talking to…

You might object to this claim, but I challenge you to joke with your father-in-law the same way you would with your college roommate.

Likewise, your style of communication will remain similar between different audiences you are writing to, but the particular manner and structure will frequently fluctuate.

Regardless of the background and situation of your audience remember they are all human (hopefully) and as such, they all are drawn to universal needs & desires.

“The more you talk about them, the more important they will feel. The more you listen to them, the more important you will make them feel.”

– Roy T. Bennett

When in doubt speak from the heart and put your best voice forward, doing your best to be emphatic with their pains and dreams. (1) Get to know your readers, (2) write in a style they will appreciate, (3) using content that will interest and connect with them.
